WoW Cooking and Fishing Guide

It's best to level fishing and cooking at the same time. It will be much easier to find the materials at each step of the way if you just grab your fishing pole and start casting. Instead of farming meat off beasts you'll find yourself leveling your fishing skill which will be useful later in the game.

Make sure you have all recipes you will need before starting next section of this guide. A complete list of required recipes and its sources is here. Don't forget to visit fishing trainers and cooking trainers at proper levels to advance you skill. Learn Apprentice at skill level 50, Expert at 125, Artisan at 200, Master at 275 and Grand Master at 350. Always use the best available poles and lures while fishing to avoid catching junk.

Leveling cooking and fishing 1–225

The best way to get started is to head to either the lake around Bloodhoof Village (Horde) or Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest, catch yourself enough Brilliant Smallfish/Longjaw Mud Snappers to cook your way to level 50. Next you can head back into Orgrimmar/Stormwind and fish until level 75, this should yield enough Longjaw Mud Snappers to Cook to level 100. At Cooking Level 100 you can catch and cook Bristle Whisker Catfish in Hillsbrad Foothills. Once you're fishing is 150 and cooking 175 head to either Shadowprey Village in Desolace (Horde) or Stormgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands to catch Mithril Head Trout until level 225 for both Cooking and Fishing.

Leveling cooking and fishing 225–325

The next best place to go is Tanaris, fish off the docks in Steamweedle Port to level your fishing to 250 and cook the Spotted Yellowtail to level your cooking past 250 (you'll have a ton). With 250 fishing skill you can head up to Western Plaguelands and catch Sunscale Salmon and Nightfins to cook your way to 295 (this should max your fishing for now). One last stop in Eastern Plaguelands at Lake Mereldar to catch some Salmon and cook them up to reach level 300 Cooking.

Leveling cooking and fishing 325–450

Head to Outland to learn Master Cooking and Master Fishing. Next up is Zangarmarsh where you can catch and cook Feltail Delight, Blackened Trout and Blackened Sporefish till level 350 Cooking. Once you're 350 Cooking & Fishing, head to Northrend and learn Grand Master Cooking & Fishing. You can make it to level 425 cooking Grilled Bonescales and Pickled Fangtooth from the inland water in Howling Fjord or Grizzly Hills. You can finish off Cooking & Fishing together collecting fish for Small Feasts from Sholazar Basin.

Learn Illustrious Grand Master in Fishing and Cooking.

Recipes for this stage are purchased with Orgrimmar Cooking Award or Stormwind Cooking Award which are rewards for Cataclysm daily cooking quests. Each recipe cost 3 awards. If there are several recipes for same skill range – choose the one you like more.
